Design Process
We actively listen to our clients emotional, functional, technological, cultural and future needs. These needs form the key drivers of the project, but it is our role to interpret and push these requirements of human needs and behaviour to form a strong design strategy.
Our holistic approach of creating spaces and objects is centred around human need and behaviours. We understand there is a need to consider to all design elements (interiors, architecture, furnishings, finishes and joinery) when creating a cohesive solution. We also consider place, environment and community which we believe are integral to good design.
Listen
Listening to the client, understanding the history and context for the project is a critical stage. By clearly understanding all stakeholder requirements and the overall project vision, true collaboration is possible.
Define
Shared goals and key drivers are defined by interpreting the
organisation aspirational, cultural and functional requirements via client engagement, sector benchmarking, feasibility studies and the
aspirational/functional briefing process.
Discover
The insight provided by listening, research and defined by the briefing process comes together in the creation of the initial concepts.
Environmental, cultural and organisational influences are brought
together and evaluated against the project objectives.
Develop
The initial concept’s are translated into a defined design solution that incorporates the projects cultural, functional and aesthetics objectives. Technology, materials, form, lighting and furniture are shaped and selected.
Detail
Final design documentation is refined for site construction or fabrication via a two-way conversation with the stakeholders and selected contractor/s or craft-persons. The learnings from this process are critical in achieving a refined built solution.
Deliver
Site attendance allows for collaboration with the contractors and subcontractors to confirm design intent and allows for final built form to be constructed to the required quality and finish.
Learn
Reviewing a completed projects performance is a critical learning process. By observing and recording lessons learnt, knowledge is passed on for future project understanding and process refinement.
